    Hi Shaun,

Your vids are great. I am a 12 handicap trying not to make use of the docs serices…. Using your technique of moving my head towards my back foot I hit the ball very crisp, with very little strain on my lower back. fantastic. Unfortunately I either push it right or draw it too much. Seem to have very much a in to out swing. How do I get better direction?
    thanks again..

    Yes my child! :)
Some of the best ball strikers of all time did and still do the grip down thing; it is about fit and feel. Nick Price, Moe Norman, Anthony Kim and many more… you are in great company! Stay the way you are!

Hey Shawn, have a question regarding chokeing down on clubs. Is it ok 2 choke down on all clubs irons mostly. instead of resizeing? I have 2 choke down on all my iorns(King Cobra II) and scoot the ball closer 2 me 2 feel like I am getting good ball-first contact on shots that leave divots. Yet if I scoot the ball farther away and grip towards the butt of the shaft more I can rip it with less control. R they 2 long 4 me? Is there a formula 2 determine this? Help me oh Great Northern Golf Guru

    Thanks lhgolfer!
    You are very much onto the issue of your problem; go to my “Golf Pro Lesson Finish Position” and make sure that holding your finish becomes a habit for you; when you see the video you will know what I mean;

Hi Shawn, got a question about foot pain. Although I haven’t played or practiced for several weeks I noticed my left foot (I’m a lefty golfer) had pain that started in the ball of the foot and seemed to migrate to the heel and ankle and back at different times. Is it possible I’m not getting to my forward foot properly on my follow-thru & finish thus causing a strain on my left foot? Thanks & keep up the fantastic instruction. Your DVD’s are the best!

Thanks Doc! And yes I do have a suggestion for you and that is to use your good hip to your advantage and hit some shots using the “One Leg Drill” video; you will not believe how far you will hit the ball! I played a whole tournament and finished second using this drill both right and left handed and the other PGA Pros who were playing with me could not believe I was outdriving them by 40 plus yards!
Let me know how you do; Shawn

Shawn your comment is CORRECT..As an orthopedic surgeon[7 handicap] I can assure you it takes a lot of hard work with a hammer and an osteotome to mobilise an SI joint.
My problem is reduced internal rotation of my right hip[early OA] which makes my windup more difficult as I am now 65.
In addition one faces reduced lumbar mobility making it more difficult to keep ones spinal angle through impact
Do you have any suggestions for this problem which faces older golfers?

Ya. I’ve been watching alot of his vids about the pivoting. It seems to help.

Hey Dr Dan;Thanks for the great comment!
Understood of course; but just how much mobility do these joints have? And what is their purpose?

I love the videos Shawn, they have really helped my game. Just a bit on the anatomy part though. The sacrum isn’t fused to the pelvis, there are two joints on each side called sacroiliac joints and they do move. As a chiropractor, I adjust them on golfers everyday! Keep up the great advice.

RobbeZer0, are you trying to screw you right foot into the dirt as sevam1 is suggesting?

Yes; because of the weight of the arms swinging in front of the body which causes even more swing weight to occur; watch the “Proper weight shift” and the “one Leg drill” and the “one Leg part 2″ videos.
All are on the “you tube Shawn” page of my website. Thanks for the great question! Shawn

I’ve recently been looking at Hogan’s swing and how he pivots around the balls of his right foot. It seems similar to what you’re doing but it looks like you keep your weight on your left side. Thinking it might just be an illusion.

So when you’re braced into the inner side of your left foot do you still have the majority of the weight on your right foot in the backswing?
